SAN FRANCISCO -- At the Dreamforce 2014 conference, Salesforce unveiled its new development platform, Lightning. Salesforce Lightning was designed for greater speed and ease of application development and integration with the company's CRM. This year, Salesforce announced enhancements to the UI, with Lightning Experience and the Lightning App Builder.
But what do users think about these tools and is the app-creation process as easy as it's touted? Geneva Stephens, a program manager at a major U.S. airline, has experience with Salesforce Lightning and says, despite the learning curve, Lightning makes CRM more user-friendly.
"It makes people want to go in and use it and they feel like they're getting information out of it rather than just putting in data," Stephens said.
She said that despite being easier to use, there is room for improvement. "While there's still development work that needs to be done, it's a lot easier for developers to go in and make a couple of components, and then [admins] can go in and manipulate that to fit multiple needs across multiple departments," Stephens said.
Stephens also shared her thoughts on Salesforce Wave, why companies aren't so sure about adopting it just yet and some of her other impressions from the show.
