The new release also features customization capabilities that allow businesses to tailor the application to their business processes, embed best practices, streamline data entry, and configure different layouts for different types of records.

"[Customization] tends to be an area where on-demand can be really limiting," said Rebecca Wettemann, vice president with Wellesley, Mass.-based Nucleus Research. "It's pretty feature-rich, intuitive CRM. This is a pretty good step in terms of usability as well."

User adoption remains a key factor in successful deployments of CRM, according to industry analysts.
