Rivals target

NetSuite and have taken aim at with announcements this month.

Two rivals have taken aim at the San Francisco company in recent weeks.

San Mateo, Calif.'s NetSuite Inc. today offered a discount package for companies considering's sales force automation product. For those considering it for the first time, NetSuite said it will undercut any estimate proposed by by 50%. For those renewing subscriptions, NetSuite will offer to reduce the renewal price by 50% and provide free data migration.

The discounts last through March 31.

This is not the first time NetSuite has taken on its rivals with a discounting offer. Last August it unveiled its "Project Vampire" plan, which offered free data migration services for users of Intuit's QuickBooks and new features that eased the transition.

A numbers game

Meanwhile, announced that it has passed its San Francisco neighbor as the new leader in on-demand CRM with 13,500 customers. is extending its free data migration service through April 2006.

Not to be outdone, began the year with a bang, announcing it has passed 13,300 customers and 214,000 paying subscribers. That figure includes about 2,000 subscribers who had been excluded from the count until certain technology requirements were met. said it expects to earn between $51 million and $52 million for the fiscal quarter ending in January.

Unica enhances Affinium

Unica Corp., in Waltham, Mass., has released enhancements to Affinium 6. They include enhanced budget optimization to help identify the best offer to send to each customer and via what channel, real-time learning to adapt offers, optimized support for IBM DB2, Netezza, Oracle and Teradata databases, role-based security features and eDelivery Services to manage and achieve high deliverability and response rates with e-mail marketing.
