What are the differences between Siebel 7 and Siebel 2000?
That is an answer that would take up much more space than exists here due to the thousands of both functional changes, additions, subtractions, and industry specific features that have been added, but I will highlight the three major differences between the two iterations:
2. Employee Relationship Management - Siebel has added ERM to its stable of applications, and despite my problems with Siebel the company, I must say they were very smart about this one. ERM is identified by Siebel as a $20 billion market. The applications are created with the idea of the "employee as customer." Employee productivity is increased with a single framework to unify disparate human resource processes and analytics are strongly integrated to measure performance with a "scorecard"-like approach. It is also seamlessly integrated with the Siebel CRM applications using the Smart Web architecture.
3.Application Network Framework - This is Siebel's enterprise integration framework. It is designed for seamless interoperability between Siebel applications and legacy and third party systems. Siebel specifically needed to develop this framework because of its lack of both back office and supply chain applications, which made them less than competitive in the enterprise applications market. The creation of this recently announced framework allows their applications to work with many of their competitors' complementary products.
I would say that these are the three most important and significant differences. If readers have any additional suggestions for significant differences, please email them to me at email@example.com and I'll ask SearchCRM to publish an addendum to this question.
