I have Teradata currently. I would like to know if there is anything out there for UNIX and NT that will allow me discovery capabilities for data that is currently stored outside of Teradata but not yet exploited. I would not be surprised if we have a lot of data not currently being realized to our benefit. Thank you!
If I understand your question correctly, you are wondering if there are tools that will allow you to mine data stored outside your Teradata database. This data probably resides in flat files. If that is the case, there are many tools that you can use on UNIX and NT platforms. The leading vendors, including SAS, SPSS, and Insightful, all provide tools that can mine flat files. Obviously there are benefits to organizing and managing the data inside of a database but if that is not possible, most data mining tools can work outside of the database.
